The importance of the coating process in the adhesive tape industry

Double-sided tape is a roll-shaped adhesive tape made of paper, cloth and plastic film as the base material, and then evenly coated with elastomer type pressure sensitive adhesive or resin pressure sensitive adhesive on the above substrate, which is composed of three parts: base material, adhesive and isolation paper (film).
The coating process is an indispensable part of the adhesive tape industry. The coating process refers to the process of evenly coating a film or paper and drying and curing it. The quality of the coating process directly affects the performance and quality of the adhesive tape. Substandard coating processes can lead to serious problems such as insufficient adhesive strength and peeling, affecting the use and sales of products.

The coating process in the adhesive tape industry generally uses the reverse coating process. The process first applies glue to the substrate and then makes the tape through processes such as drying, calendering, and trimming. The reverse coating process allows the glue to adhere evenly to the substrate, thus ensuring the performance and quality of the product. However, there are also some problems with this process, such as incomplete glue volatilization, uneven coating thickness, false deposition, etc. These problems need to be adjusted and solved by the operator in a timely manner.
In daily production, adhesive tape manufacturers need to pay attention to some key links in the coating process to ensure product quality as much as possible. First of all, we should pay attention to the selection and modulation of glue to ensure its coatability and viscosity. Then, it is also necessary to pay attention to the setting and adjustment of the coating machine, by controlling the coating weight, linear speed, air pressure and other parameters to ensure uniform coating, adjust the coating thickness, and eliminate false deposition and other problems. In addition, it is necessary to pay attention to the water content, curing time and other links to ensure that the coated adhesive tape can operate and use normally. In short, the coating process is the core link in the adhesive tape industry, which has a huge impact on product performance and quality. Only by paying attention to the quality control of the coating process and continuously optimizing the technology and process can we produce high-quality and high-performance adhesive tape products.

How adhesive tapes are applied
Transfer coating: After the glue on the peeled paper is dried in the oven, it is laminated with the laminating material, so that the glue is transferred to the laminating material. It is suitable for double-sided tapes, label single-sided tapes and foam substrate tapes.
Features: The thickness of the adhesive film is uniform, the total thickness of the tape depends on the thickness deviation of the laminating material, and the maximum temperature of the oven can be controlled to 120°C when the finished tape or the peeling paper needs to be used in the process.
Straight coating: also known as winding from the back. It is suitable for packaging tape and repeeling adhesive applied directly to the substrate and coiled.
Features: The adhesive is easy to penetrate into the inside of the substrate, the adhesion is good, the total thickness of the tape is consistent, and when the material is deviated, the thickness of the adhesive layer changes in the opposite direction; The drying speed and temperature depend on the type of substrate.
